Diagnostic Routine C
Diagnostic Overview
The Cruise Control Switch Is Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Correctly
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 31 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Steering Wheel Switch Function and REFER to Steering Wheel Switches .
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, view the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
3. Press each cruise control switch while monitoring the cruise control switch PID (Parameter Identification) (SCCS).
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) value agree with the switch position?
2. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Remove the driver air bag module. REFER to Driver Air Bag Module .
3. Disconnect LH (Left Hand) Steering Wheel Controls.
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
3. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CLOCKSPRING
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect Clockspring C218B.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure:
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
4. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Remove the clockspring. REFER to Clockspring .
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure:
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
5. CHECK FOR CORRECT SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect all the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect all the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
4. Connect all disconnected connectors.
5. Install the driver air bag module. REFER to Driver Air Bag Module .
6. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
