WARNING: Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk of serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.
1. If installing a new ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module, upload the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module configuration to the scan tool. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) .
2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner). REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View .
3. Remove the battery and battery tray. REFER to Battery and Battery Tray - Exploded View .
4. Disconnect the brake tubes from the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit).
- To install, tighten the master cylinder primary and secondary brake tube fittings to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Tighten the remaining brake tube fittings to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
5. Disconnect the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module electrical connector.
6. Remove the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
7. Remove the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module as an assembly.
Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. If a new ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module was installed, download the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module configuration from the scan tool to the new ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) .
3. If a new HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) was installed, carryout the IVD initialization using the scan tool and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
4. Bleed the brake system. REFER to Brake System Bleeding .
