Diagnostic Routine A

Diagnostic Overview

The Power Release Seat is Inoperative, Does Not Operate Correctly

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 120 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Seating - Power Release .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

Verify that BJB (Battery Junction Box) fuse 61 (20A) and BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 4 (10A) are OK.

Pinpoint Test

NOTE: Make sure the second row power release seats will manually release and latch before troubleshooting the electrical system.

1. CHECK MANUAL RELEASE OPERATION OF THE SEAT

1. Pull the release strap of the affected seat and check the manual release operation.

Does the seat release manually?

2. CHECK THE INTERIOR DEMAND LIGHTING/BATTERY SAVER OPERATION

1. Open any of the vehicle doors and check the interior courtesy lamp operation.

Do the interior lamps illuminate when a door is opened?

3. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE POWER-RELEASE SEAT MOTOR

1. Disconnect: Suspect LH (Left Hand) or RH (Right Hand) Power Release Seat Motor.

2. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

4. CHECK THE SUSPECT POWER RELEASE SEAT MOTOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

5. CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH OUTPUT
NOTE: If the demand lighting/battery saver system has timed out, close and re-open any of the vehicle doors to activate the system before measuring the voltage.

1. Press and release the suspect LH (Left Hand) or RH (Right Hand) seat control switch while measuring:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the switch is pressed; and 0 volt when released?

6. CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE
NOTE: If the demand lighting/battery saver system has timed out, close and re-open any of the vehicle doors to activate the system before measuring the voltage.

1. Disconnect: Suspect LH (Left Hand) Seat Control Switch C3343 or RH (Right Hand) Seat Control Switch C3344.

2. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

7. CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. For LH (Left Hand) seat, measure:

3. For RH (Right Hand) seat, measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

8. CHECK THE SUSPECT SEAT CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

1. Disconnect: Suspect LH (Left Hand) Seat Control Switch C3343 or RH (Right Hand) Seat Control Switch C3344.

2. Measure:

Is any voltage present?
