Diagnostic Routine K

Diagnostic Overview

Easy Entry, Easy Exit is Inoperative or Does Not Operate Correctly

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the DSM (Driver Seat Module) receives a key out command and gear lever position of park from the BCM (Body Control Module) over the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network), the DSM (Driver Seat Module) powers the memory driver seat rearward about 2 inches.

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

Verify good battery condition before diagnosing the memory seat system. Poor battery condition may interfere with memory seat operation, even if vehicle starting is possible.

Verify that the easy entry/easy exit feature is enabled on the message center. Refer to the Owner's Literature for information on enabling/disabling this feature on the message center.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE DRIVER POWER SEAT OPERATION

1. Ignition ON.

2. Check the message center to verify the easy entry/easy exit feature is enabled.

- The easy entry/easy exit feature can be enabled/disabled using a scan tool in module programming. Refer to the Owner's Literature or REFER to Instrumentation, Message Center, and Warning Chimes for information on the message center.

3. Using the seat control switch, verify the driver power seat operates fully forward and rearward.

4. Place the memory seat and memory mirrors in central travel positions.

5. Using a scan tool, perform DSM (Driver Seat Module) self-test.

Are any DSM (Driver Seat Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved?

2. CHECK THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) TR (Transmission Range) PID (Parameter Identification) STATES

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, view PCM (Powertrain Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).

3. Operate the transmission gear selector in all positions while monitoring the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) PID (Parameter Identification) TR states.

Do the PID (Parameter Identification) states agree with the selected positions?

3. CHECK THE DSM (Driver Seat Module) FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH POSITION (IGN_SW) STATES

1. Using a scan tool, view DSM (Driver Seat Module) PID (Parameter Identification): IGN_SW.

2. Operate the ignition while monitoring the IGN_SW PID (Parameter Identification) states.

3. For vehicles equipped with an ignition lock cylinder and key, insert and remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

4. For vehicles equipped with passive entry/passive start, push the ignition button on and off.

Do the PID (Parameter Identification) states agree?
