Diagnostic Overview

The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally or Vertically - Driver, Without Power Recline

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 120 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the driver seat control switch is activated, voltage and ground is supplied to the applicable seat track motor to move the seat to the desired position.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

1. Operate the driver seat forward and rearward.

Does the seat move horizontally?

2. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL MOTOR

1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.

3. Disconnect: Driver Seat Horizontal Motor C362.

4. NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
While pushing the driver seat control switch forward and rearward, measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position?

3. CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C360.

2. Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

4. DETERMINE THE SEAT HEIGHT ADJUST FAILURE

1. Operate the seat front and rear height adjustments.

Are both front and rear seat height adjustments inoperative?

5. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR

3. Disconnect: Driver Seat Rear Height Motor C363.

4. NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
While pressing the rear height adjust switch up and down, measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position?

6. CHECK THE REAR HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C360.

2. Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

7. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR

3. Disconnect: Driver Seat Front Height Motor C382.

4. NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.
While pressing the front height adjust switch up and down, measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position?

8. CHECK THE FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C360.

2. Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

9. CHECK FOR SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

Ignition OFF.

2. Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.

3. Connect: Driver Seat Control Switch C360.

4. Connect: Driver Seat Horizontal Motor C362 (if previously disconnected).

5. Connect: Driver Seat Rear Height Motor C363 (if previously disconnected).

6. Connect: Driver Seat Front Height Motor C382 (if previously disconnected).

7. Ignition ON.

8. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

9. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.

10. Using a scan tool, perform RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.

Are any RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved during self-test?
