Seat Recliner - 60 Percent, Inboard
Removal
WARNING: Use care when the seat back frame is removed and when releasing the recliners from a backrest upright position. The recliners are spring-loaded, which may cause the recliner upper arms to fold with significant speed/force. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: Returning the seat from the E-Z entry position to the load floor position will latch the inboard latch foot. The inboard latch foot must latch before the seat backrest will return to the upright position. Returning the seat backrest to the upright position will latch the outboard latch foot.
1. Remove the 60 percent seat. REFER to Seat .
2. From under the seat, detach the cushion cover J-clips.
3. Pull the cushion cover outboard retainer out from between the cushion frame and riser.
4. Release the 2 cushion cover retainers from the rear of the cushion frame.
5. Remove the cushion foam pad and cover assembly.
6. Remove the RH (Right Hand) riser inner and outer covers.
1. Remove the 2 RH (Right Hand) inner riser cover screws.
2. Release the clips, separate and remove the RH (Right Hand) inner riser cover from the RH (Right Hand) outer riser cover.
3. Remove the 3 screws and the RH (Right Hand) outer riser cover.
7. Cut the zip tie that retains the seat recliner cables to the seat cushion frame.
8. Remove the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt. Position the safety belt anchor out from behind the recliner.
9. NOTE: Without armrest shown, with similar.
Open the backrest cover.
1. Detach the backrest cover J-clips at the bottom of the seat backrest.
2. Detach the 4 backrest cover inner J-clips attached to the hard back panel.
3. Remove the 4 pin-type retainers.
4. Detach the hook-and-loop strips.
10. If equipped with an armrest, push the buttons in on the head restraint guide sleeves and remove the center head restraint.
11. If equipped with an armrest, pull the backrest cover out.
12. NOTE: The center head restraint must be removed to remove the armrest assembly.
If equipped, remove the armrest.
1. Remove the 3 screws.
2. Remove the 3 armrest-to-backrest frame bolts.
3. Detach the 2 retaining clips.
4. Pull out at the front and remove the armrest assembly.
13. Remove the inboard recliner RH (Right Hand) cover.
14. Remove the pin-type retainer and screw from the inboard recliner LH (Left Hand) cover.
15. Remove the inboard recliner LH (Left Hand) cover by sliding it back through the opening in the seat.
16. Remove the clip and the recliner handle.
17. Remove the outboard recliner cover.
18. Pull the backrest cover back and loosen, but do not remove, the 2 outboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
19. Detach the inboard-to-outboard recliner cable end at the outboard recliner.
20. Remove the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
21. Remove the 3 inboard recliner-to-cushion frame bolts and the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt.
22. NOTE: Note the routing of the recliner cables for installation.
Remove the inboard recliner.
Installation
1. Position the inboard recliner to the seat. Install but do not tighten the 3 inboard recliner-to-cushion frame bolts, the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt and the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
2. NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt is not twisted.
Position the safety belt anchor to the recliner. Install but do not tighten the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt.
3. Tighten the 3 inboard recliner-to-cushion frame bolts, the inboard recliner-to-cushion frame yoke bolt and the 2 inboard recliner-to-backrest frame bolts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
4. Tighten the safety belt anchor-to-inboard recliner bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
5. Route the inboard-to-outboard recliner cable and attach the end at the outboard recliner.
6. Tighten the 2 outboard recliner-to-backrest bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
7. Install the outboard recliner cover and the recliner handle.
8. Position the inboard recliner RH (Right Hand) and LH (Left Hand) covers and snap them together.
- Install the pin-type retainer and screw to the LH (Left Hand) inboard recliner cover.
9. If equipped, install the armrest.
1. Position the armrest assembly and engage the 2 retaining clips.
2. Install the 3 armrest-to-backrest frame bolts.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
3. Install the 3 screws.
10. If equipped with an armrest, position the backrest cover back between the backrest frame and armrest plastic.
11. If equipped with an armrest, install the center head restraint.
12. Close the backrest cover.
1. Attach the hook-and-loop strips.
2. Install the 4 pin-type retainers.
3. Attach the 4 backrest cover inner J-clips to the hard back panel.
4. Attach the backrest cover J-clips at the bottom of the cover.
13. Bundle the recliner cables together and secure them to the cushion frame wire with a zip tie.
14. Install the RH (Right Hand) riser inner and outer covers.
1. Position the RH (Right Hand) outer riser cover and install the 3 screws.
2. Attach the RH (Right Hand) inner riser cover to the RH (Right Hand) outer riser cover.
3. Install the 2 RH (Right Hand) inner riser cover screws.
15. Position the cushion foam pad and cover to the cushion frame.
16. Engage and attach all cushion cover retainers and J-clips.
