Seat Cushion Heater Mat
Seat Cushion Heater Mat
Removal
NOTICE: The passenger seat is equipped with an OCS (Occupant Classification System) bladder system, to prevent system failure, it is necessary to carry out the OCS (Occupant Classification System) reset when a front passenger seat cushion is disassembled, a new cushion cover is installed or an OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit is installed. A scan tool is used to carry out the OCS (Occupant Classification System) reset.
NOTICE: Do not reinstall any heater mat after removal. The adhesive will not adhere correctly, causing it to bunch up or shift out of place. A new heater mat and a new foam pad must be installed. If a new heater mat is needed for a passenger seat cushion, an OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit must be installed. Failure to follow these instructions can result in heated seat component damage, system failure or incorrect OCS (Occupant Classification System) operation.
NOTE: The passenger seat is equipped with an OCS (Occupant Classification System) bladder system, a new OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit and a new cushion heated seat mat must be installed. REFER to Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor .
NOTE: An OCS (Occupant Classification System) bladder system and the OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit has the electrical connector glued to the OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module). It cannot and should not be disconnected or altered.
NOTE: For component identification and locations, REFER to Seat - Exploded View, Front .
1. NOTE: All Seats
For a passenger seat equipped with a OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit, remove the OCS (Occupant Classification System) sensor. For additional information, REFER to Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor .
2. Remove the seat cushion cover. For additional information, REFER to Seat Cushion Cover .
3. NOTE: Note the wire harness routing for installation.
At the front of the seat track, disconnect the cushion heater mat electrical connector and separate the wire harness retainer.
4. Remove the cushion foam pad from the cushion frame. Discard the cushion foam pad with heater mat.
5. NOTE: Power seat track on top, manual seat track on bottom.
For a passenger seat, remove the OCSM (Occupant Classification System Module) in the following sequence:
1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
2. NOTE: For manual seat track only.
If equipped, bend the locking tab downward.
3. Remove the 2 screws.
6. NOTE: Power seat track on top, manual seat track on bottom.
For a passenger seat, separate the pressure sensor in the following sequence:
1. Bend the locking tab downward.
2. Slide the pressure sensor off of the bracket.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. For a passenger seat, detach the OCS (Occupant Classification System) bladder pin-type retainers.
8. NOTE: Power seat track on top, manual seat track on bottom.
For a passenger seat, route the OCS (Occupant Classification System) hose and pressure sensor through the cushion support wires.
Installation
NOTE: For component identification and locations, REFER to Seat - Exploded View, Front .
1. For a passenger seat that had an OEM bladder OCS (Occupant Classification System), install a new OCS (Occupant Classification System) service kit. For additional information, REFER to Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor .
2. Install a new cushion heater mat onto a new cushion foam pad.
1. Position the heater mat wire harness through the cushion foam pad.
2. Position the cushion heater mat onto the cushion foam pad and tuck the heater mat into the foam pad trenches, make sure the openings in the cushion heater mat align to the wires in the cushion foam pad.
3. Make sure the cushion heater mat stays in place, remove the paper strips from under the cushion heater mat and adhere to the cushion foam pad, laying it flat with no wrinkles.
3. Position the cushion foam pad to the cushion frame and route the heater mat wire harness.
4. At the front of the seat track, connect the cushion heater mat electrical connector and attach the wire harness retainer.
5. Install the seat cushion cover. For additional information, REFER to Seat Cushion Cover .
