Diagnostic Overview

A Single Mirror Is Inoperative - Non-Memory

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 124 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Each exterior mirror motor has specific circuits that control the down/up and left/right movement of the glass. The motors share a common return circuit.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR
NOTICE: The following step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the Special Tools table at the beginning. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector.

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Inoperative RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror or LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Select the inoperative mirror on the exterior mirror control switch.

5. For inoperative LH (Left Hand) mirror, while holding the exterior mirror control switch in the up position, monitor:





6. For inoperative RH (Right Hand) mirror, while holding the exterior mirror control switch in the up position, monitor:





Did the test light illuminate?








2. CHECK THE BASE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C535A.

3. For inoperative LH (Left Hand) mirror, measure:





4. For inoperative RH (Right Hand) mirror, measure:





Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?








3. CHECK THE HEATED EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch.

3. Measure:









Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
