Diagnostic Overview

An Individual Button/Feature Is Inoperative From The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter

Normal Operations and Fault Conditions

The RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter in the IA (Intelligent Access) key sends a radio signal to the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module based on the user selected RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter button. The TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) module then communicates the command to the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module, and the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module carries out the selected action.

Upon a request to lock/unlock the doors, the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module controls the door lock actuators. Upon a request to open/close the power liftgate, the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module sends a network message to the LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) over the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network). Upon a panic alarm request, the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module sends a network message to the BCM (Body Control Module) over the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) to activate the turn signals and horn.

Pinpoint Test

1. VERIFY THE DOOR LOCK OPERATION

1. Press the lock and unlock button on the driver door lock control switch while observing the door lock operation.

Do the door locks operate correctly?








2. VERIFY THE HAZARD LAMP OPERATION

1. Place the hazard switch in the ON position.

Do the hazard lamps operate correctly?








3. VERIFY THE LIFTGATE OPERATION

1. Press the interior power liftgate switch.

Does the power liftgate open?








4. VERIFY THE HORN OPERATION

1. Using the scan tool, view the BCM (Body Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).

2. Select the BCM (Body Control Module) PID (Parameter Identification) HORN and active command the horn on.

Does the horn sound when commanded on?








5. VERIFY THE REMOTE START BUTTON

1. Using the scan tool, view the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PIDs (Parameter Identifications).

2. Select the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PID (Parameter Identification) Lst_Xm_B_Prs while pressing the remote start button on an IA (Intelligent Access) key.

Does the PID (Parameter Identification) indicate the remote start button is being pressed?
