Removal

NOTICE: Frame members are a combination of HSLA (High-Strength Low Alloy) and UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel). Because of this design feature, sectioning is not recognized by Ford Motor Company. Frame Members must be replaced at the factory seams.

1. Rough straighten damaged components to restore dimensional integrity prior to any removal.

2. Remove the component(s) at the factory seams.

Installation

NOTICE: Frame members are made of combinations of HSLA (High-Strength Low Alloy) and UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel). Because of this, sectioning is not recognized by Ford Motor Company. Frame members must be replaced at the factory seams.

1. Install replacement frame members at the factory seams and weld as required. Factory spot welds may be replaced with MIG (Metal Inert Gas) plug welds or STRW (Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding). Spot welds must equal factory welds in location and quantity.

2. Corrosion protection must be restored after any repair. REFER to Restoring Corrosion Protection Following Repair .
