Diagnostic Routine H
Diagnostic Overview
The Power Liftgate Closes (With a Continuous Chime) Immediately After a Power Open
Normal Operations and Fault Conditions
After the LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) has performed a power open operation, voltage is removed from the drive motor. The LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) briefly continues to monitor the position of the liftgate. If excessive movement in the closed direction is detected, voltage is reapplied to the motor and a continuous chime is initiated and remains on as the liftgate is automatically closed.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Excessive weight on the liftgate, such as snow, ice or a bicycle rack
- Liftgate assist cylinder
- Power liftgate initialization
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE LIFTGATE ASSIST CYLINDERS
1. Verify there is no excessive weight on the liftgate, such as snow, ice or a bicycle rack.
2. Turn the power liftgate off (disable) from the message center.
3. Operate the liftgate manually to verify the liftgate assist cylinders hold the liftgate open.
Did the liftgate assist cylinders hold the liftgate open correctly?
2. CHECK THE POWER LIFTGATE OPERATION
1. Using the scan tool, clear the LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
2. Initialize the power liftgate. REFER to Power Liftgate Initialization Power Liftgate Initialization.
3. Operate the power liftgate from a RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) transmitter.
Does the liftgate close with a continuous chime immediately after a power open?
