Removal

NOTE: Manual liftgate shown, power liftgate similar.

1. Remove the bolt at the liftgate and position the ground strap aside.





2. Position aside the liftgate opening weatherstrip.

3. Remove the liftgate trim panel. REFER to Liftgate Trim Panel .

4. Disconnect the center high-mount stop lamp electrical connector.





5. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) side shown, RH (Right Hand) side similar.
Disconnect the heated backlight electrical connectors.





6. Disconnect the rear wiper motor electrical connector.





7. Disconnect the license lamp electrical connector.





8. Disconnect the liftgate latch electrical connectors.










9. Remove the wiring harness pushpin retainers.

10. Remove the wiring harness boot at the liftgate opening and route the wiring harness out of the liftgate.





11. Remove the rear washer hose boot at the body and disconnect the washer hose.





12. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) side shown, RH (Right Hand) side similar.
Loosen but do not remove the liftgate-to-hinge bolts.





13. Manually support the liftgate.

14. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) side shown, RH (Right Hand) side similar.
Disconnect the liftgate supports at the liftgate.





15. With the help of an assistant, remove the liftgate-to-hinge bolts and remove the liftgate.

Installation

NOTE: Manual liftgate shown, power liftgate similar.

1. With the help of an assistant, position the liftgate to the vehicle and loosely install the liftgate-to-hinge bolts.

2. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) side shown, RH (Right Hand) side similar.
Install the liftgate supports.





3. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) side shown, RH (Right Hand) side similar.
Tighten the liftgate-to-hinge bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





4. Route the liftgate wiring harness through the liftgate opening and install the boot.





5. Connect the liftgate latch electrical connectors.










6. Connect the license lamp electrical connector.





7. Connect the rear wiper electrical connector.

Connect the heated backlight electrical connectors.





9. Connect the center high mount stop lamp electrical connector.





10. Install the liftgate wiring harness pushpin retainers.

11. Connect the rear washer hose and install the boot.





12. Install the liftgate trim panel. REFER to Liftgate Trim Panel .

13. Install the liftgate opening weatherstrip.

14. Install the liftgate ground strap and bolt.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





15. Adjust the liftgate to specification. REFER to Liftgate Alignment .

16. For power liftgate application, initialize the power liftgate motor. REFER to Power Liftgate Initialization Power Liftgate Initialization.

17. For power liftgate application, program the liftgate opening height. REFER to Program Power Liftgate Open Height .
