Diagnostic Overview
One Or More FCDIM Display Is Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Correctly
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
All of the displays on the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) screen are controlled through network messages. The modules sending display data to the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) are:
- ACM (Audio Control Module): audio system information
- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster): warning messages and indicators
If the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) loses the signal from any of these modules, only those specific displays are inoperative.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)
1. Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the scan tool communicate with the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)?
2. CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) SET IN THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)
1. Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:00 or U0184:00 present in the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)?
3. CHECK THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DISPLAY SEGMENTS
1. Using a scan tool, view the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
2. Command all of the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) segments on using the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) active command LCD_SEG (All LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Segments).
Do all of the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) segments illuminate?
4. CHECK FOR CORRECT FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
