Diagnostic Overview

The Speed Compensated Volume Does Not Operate Correctly

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Speed Compensated Volume .

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE SPEED SENSITIVE VOLUME SETTING

1. Turn the speed sensitive volume off. Refer to the Owner's Literature.

2. Operate the audio system in radio tuner (AM/FM (Amplitude Modulation/Frequency Modulation)) mode.

3. Drive the vehicle at various speeds and observe the speaker volume.

4. Set the speed sensitive volume to maximum compensation. Refer to the Owner's Literature.

5. Operate the audio system in radio tuner (AM/FM (Amplitude Modulation/Frequency Modulation)) mode.

6. Drive the vehicle at various speeds and observe the speaker volume.

Does the volume remain constant with the speed sensitive volume turned off, and increase and decrease with vehicle speed with the speed sensitive volume set to maximum?








2. CHECK FOR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:00 OR U0184:00

1. Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:00 or U0184:00 retrieved in any audio module?








3. CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Control Module) OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect all ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

4. Reconnect the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
