Diagnostic Overview
The Message Center Displays A Blocked Sensor Message
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 136 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
A blocked sensor message indicates there is an obstruction on the rear bumper cover that does not allow the radar from the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) and SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) to penetrate.
REFER to BLIS(R) and CTA Message Display .
Pinpoint Test
1. INSPECT THE REAR BUMPER COVER, THE SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) AND SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) BRACKET FOR DAMAGE
1. Inspect for damage on the rear bumper cover, SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) and SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) bracket for damage.
Is the rear bumper cover, SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) or the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) bracket damaged?
2. INSPECT THE SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) AND SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) FOR DEBRIS, MUD, SNOW OR ICE
1. Inspect for debris, mud, snow or ice on the rear bumper cover, SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) and SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) module housing.
Is the rear bumper cover and radar unit obstructed or blocked due to the concerns above?
3. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
4. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
