Normal Operations and Fault Conditions

When the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module enters a key programming state, it activates the backup transceiver to read the key in the backup slot. If a valid IA (Intelligent Access) key is used and there are no concerns with the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System), the key is programmed into the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module memory.

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the IA (Intelligent Access) key for physical damage.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE RFA (Remote Function Actuator) MODULE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module self-test.

Are any other RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved?








2. CHECK THE IA (Intelligent Access) KEYS

1. Check that the correct IA (Intelligent Access) keys are used with the vehicle. REFER to Intelligent Access (IA) Key .

Are the correct keys being used?








3. CHECK BOTH IA (Intelligent Access) KEYS
NOTE: At least 2 IA (Intelligent Access) keys must be present prior to carrying out this pinpoint test

1. Program both of the IA (Intelligent Access) keys. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment.

2. Press the start/stop switch with each IA (Intelligent Access) key in the vehicle at a time.

Does the ignition only turn on with only one key?
