Diagnostic Overview

B10D7:87 or B10D7:8F

Normal Operations and Fault Conditions

When the ignition is turned to the RUN or START position, the BCM (Body Control Module) activates the transceiver to read the key in the ignition. If the BCM (Body Control Module) does not receive a PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key code or if the code is invalid, PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) is disabled and the engine does not start.

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key for damage.

- Verify the correct key is being used.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) KEYS

NOTE: The keys must have HA or SA stamped on the key blade.

1. Check that the correct PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys are used with the vehicle. REFER to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) .

Are the correct keys being used?








2. ISOLATE THE PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) KEYS

NOTE: Follow this procedure using both PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) keys (using one at a time).

1. Place a PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) key in the ignition and turn to the ON position.

2. Using a scan tool, clear BCM (Body Control Module) CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

3. Cycle the ignition from ON to OFF and then back to the ON position.

4. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B10D7:87 or B10D7:8F retrieved for both keys?
