DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

Pinpoint Test

1. VERIFY THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, view the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

3. Compare the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plate on the vehicle.

Does VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) match the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plate on the vehicle?

2. VERIFY THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) MODULE PART NUMBER

1. Using a scan tool, retrieve and record the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module part number from the log viewer.

2. Check the part number recorded against the number listed in the parts catalog.

Is the correct ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module installed in the vehicle?
