B108A:12
Diagnostic Routine K
Diagnostic Overview
B108A:12
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 13 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
NOTE: The RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module is only capable of setting DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B108A:12 as a continuous memory DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). It is possible for this DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) to be cleared and not return even if the condition that caused it is still present. If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B108A:12 is retrieved, carry out this pinpoint test even if the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) does not return.
Fused battery voltage is sent to one set of contacts in the start/stop switch from BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 28 (15A). When the switch is pressed, this voltage is sent to the BCM (Body Control Module), the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module and the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). The other set of contacts in the start/stop switch connects the BCM (Body Control Module) to ground. When the switch is pressed, the BCM (Body Control Module) detects this ground signal and takes appropriate action.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE START/STOP SWITCH 1 (Crk_Fact_B1) PID (Parameter Identification)
1. Using a scan tool, view RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
2. Monitor the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PID (Parameter Identification) Crk_Fact_B1 while pressing and releasing the start/stop switch.
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) display YES when the start/stop switch is pressed and NO when the start/stop switch is released?
2. ISOLATE THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module)
1. Disconnect: PCM (Powertrain Control Module) C175B.
2. Monitor the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PID (Parameter Identification) Crk_Fact_B1.
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) change from YES to NO when the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is disconnected?
3. ISOLATE THE BCM (Body Control Module)
1. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280B.
2. Monitor the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PID (Parameter Identification) Crk_Fact_B1.
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) change from YES to NO when the BCM (Body Control Module) is disconnected?
4. ISOLATE THE START/STOP SWITCH
1. Disconnect: Start/stop Switch.
2. Monitor the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PID (Parameter Identification) Crk_Fact_B1.
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) change from YES to NO when the start/stop switch is disconnected?
5. CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA (Remote Function Actuator) MODULE OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module connectors and all previously disconnected exterior system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
