Main Control Cover




Main Control Cover

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .

2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner). REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View .

3. Remove the 4 retainers and the underbody shield.





4. Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain. Install the drain plug.
- Torque: 12 Nm (106 lb-in).





5. Remove the 3 wiring retainers from the main control cover studbolts.





6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) outlet tube and position it aside.





7. Disconnect the transmission main electrical connector.





8. Remove the nuts and remove the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve from the main control cover studbolts.





9. NOTE: Note the location of the studbolts for assembly.
Remove the main control cover bolts and the main control cover.





Installation

1. Clean the main control cover and transmission sealing surfaces.





2. NOTE: Be sure the sealing surface of the torque converter housing and the main control cover are free of oil before applying silicone.

Apply silicone to the sealing surface of the main control cover.





3. NOTICE: Inspect the main control-to-main control cover grommet to make sure that it seals on the inside of the main control cover or a transmission fluid leak will occur.

NOTE: Install the studbolts in the locations noted during disassembly.
Install the main control cover on the transmission and install the 13 main control cover bolts.
- Torque: 12 Nm (106 lb-in).





4. Install the transmission fluid cooler thermal bypass valve on the main control cover studbolts and install the 2 transmission fluid cooler thermal bypass valve bracket nuts.
- Torque: 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





5. Connect the transmission main electrical connector.





6. Install the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) outlet tube on the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) and tighten the clamp.
- Torque: 5 Nm (44 lb-in).





7. Install the 3 wiring retainers on the main control cover studbolts.





8. Install the ACL (Air Cleaner). REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View .

9. Fill the transmission fluid. REFER to Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill .
