Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Jacking and Lifting .
2. Using hose clamp pliers, clamp the 2 oil cooler coolant hoses and remove the 2 coolant hoses from the oil cooler.
3. Remove the oil filter and discard.
4. NOTE: If metal or aluminum is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. Failure to correct these concerns may result in engine failure. To diagnose mechanical concerns, REFER to Symptom Chart(s) .
Remove the 6 bolts and the oil cooler.
5. Discard the oil cooler gasket and inspect the oil cooler. Clean and inspect all sealing surfaces.
Installation
1. Using new gaskets, install the oil cooler and the 6 bolts.
- Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
2. Install the 2 coolant hoses to the oil cooler.
- Remove the 2 hose clamp pliers.
3. NOTE: Do not lubricate the engine oil filter gasket.
Install a new engine oil filter.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in), then turn an additional 180 degrees.
