Rear View Mirrors - Exterior, Power Folding
The optional power folding exterior mirrors are controlled by the DSM (Driver Seat Module). The power folding exterior mirror feature allows both exterior mirrors to be folded or unfolded using the exterior mirror control switch that is integral to the master window control switch. The DSM (Driver Seat Module) controls power folding mirror movement by reversing the polarity of voltage and ground it supplies to the power folding mirror motors. The RH (Right Hand) and LH (Left Hand) power folding mirrors fold or unfold at the same time and cannot be controlled independently. The mirrors operate in the opposite direction of the last switch activation.
The DSM (Driver Seat Module) controls power fold mirror operation but does not use memory mirror potentiometer information for operation of the power fold mirrors.
If the power folding mirrors are folded or unfolded continuously (6 to 10 cycles), the power lockout feature disables the system for approximately 3-10 minutes to prevent damage to the power folding mirror drive motors. After 3-10 minutes have elapsed, normal operation resumes. Before running a self-test or retrieving DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), the power fold switch must be inactive for at least 30 seconds.
The power fold mirrors may be moved inward/outward manually. If a mirror is moved manually, it needs to be re-synchronized. A mirror which has not been re-synchronized may appear to be loose. REFER to Mirror Synchronization - Exterior, Power Folding Programming and Relearning.
