Pinpoint Test M: The LH/RH Turn or High Beam Indicator Is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
When the multifunction switch is in the LH/RH TURN position or the headlamps are in the HIGH BEAM position, a message is sent to the Instrument Cluster (IC) from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) through the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN), to flash the LH/RH turn signal indicator on and off or to turn on the high beam indicator.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Exterior lighting concern
- SJB
- IC
PINPOINT TEST M: THE LH/RH TURN OR HIGH BEAM INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON
-------------------------------------------------
M1 VERIFY THE LH/RH TURN SIGNAL OR HIGH BEAM OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Operate the LH/RH turn signals or the high beams. Observe the LH/RH turn signal or high beam lamps.
- Do the LH/RH turn signal or high beam lamps operate correctly?
Yes
GO to M2.
No
REFER to Lighting and Horns.

M3 CARRY OUT THE IC INDICATOR LAMP ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC left turn indicator (LHTURN), right turn indicator (RHTURN) or high beam indicator (HIGH_BEAM) active command. Command the LH/RH turn or high beam indicator on and off. Observe the LH/RH turn or high beam indicator.
- Does the LH or RH turn signal indicator illuminate when commanded on, and turn off when commanded off?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
