Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) Valve Screen



FUEL INJECTION PRESSURE REGULATOR (IPR) VALVE SCREEN

Removal

1. Remove the fuel Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) valve. Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) Valve





2. NOTE: Do not replace the high pressure oil pump if debris is present on the IPR valve screen. Clean or replace the screen, reinstall the IPR valve and reevaluate the IPR valve function.

Inspect the IPR valve screen for visible damage.
- If the IPR valve screen is damaged or plugged with debris, use the following steps to replace the IPR valve screen.





3. NOTE: Position the IPR valve in a vise to aid in replacing the IPR valve screen.

Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals from the IPR valve.





4. NOTICE Use care when removing the Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) valve screen or damage to the backup washer may occur.

Insert a pocket screwdriver between the backup washer and the IPR valve screen.





5. Insert a second pocket screwdriver between the first screwdriver and the IPR valve screen.
- Using a twisting motion on the second screwdriver, unseat the IPR valve screen.





6. Remove and discard the backup washer.

Installation





1. Install a new backup washer.





2. Install the 2 new O-ring seals on the IPR valve.





3. NOTE: Use a flat surface to aid in installing the new screen.

NOTE: Repeat the procedure using a new screen if the screen becomes damaged or distorted during installation.

Install the new screen on the IPR valve until it snaps securely in place.
