Disassembly and Assembly

WARNING:
- Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) vehicle and when handling an air bag module. This will reduce the risk of injury the event of an accidental deployment.
- The safety belt pretensioner a pyrotechnic device. Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling a safety belt buckle pretensioner or safety belt retractor pretensioner. Never probe a pretensioner electrical connector. Doing so could result in pretensioner or air bag deployment and could result in personal injury.
- To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not use any memory saver devices.


NOTE:
- If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered.
- The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
- The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- LH seat shown, RH seat similar.

All vehicles
1. Position the front seat to gain access to all 4 mounting bolts.
2. Depower the SRS.
3. Remove the affected seat.
4. Remove the front seat backrest.

5. NOTE: The safety belt buckle pretensioner bolts must not be reused. New bolts that are included in the seat fastener service kit (78600A58) must be used.

Remove and discard the 2 bolts, remove the electrical connector cap, disconnect the safety belt pretensioner and buckle switch and remove the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

6. Release the seat cushion trim cover retainers from the seat cushion pan and remove the trim cover and foam pad.

7. CAUTION: Use care when separating the seat upholstery from the hook and loop strip, or the hook and loop strip can be torn from the foam pad.

Release the seat cushion trim cover retainers from the cushion foam pad and remove the seat cushion trim cover.

Vehicles with heated seats
8. Remove the cushion heater element from the foam pad as needed.

All vehicles
9. Remove the cushion support.
10. Drive out the 2 recliner roll pins at the cushion pan and discard them (for installation, use 2 new roll pins). Remove the recliner assembly.

Memory seats
11. Remove the screw, slide the driver seat module back and separate it from the bracket.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the memory seat module.

12. Remove the 4 screws and the driver seat module bracket.

All vehicles
13. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
14. Install the front seat backrest.
15. Install the affected seat.
16. Repower the SRS.
