Seal - Front Output





Special Tool(s)

Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, raise and support the vehicle.




2. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.

3. NOTE: Index-mark the front driveshaft and the transfer case front flange to maintain driveline balance.

Remove the front driveshaft.





4. Remove and discard the nut. Use the special tool to prevent the flange from turning.





5. Using a suitable 2- or 3- Jaw puller, remove the flange.





6. Using the special tools, remove the front output seal.
7. Inspect the flange seal surface for wear and damage. Discard the flange, if necessary.

Installation





1. Using the special tools, install a new front output seal.





2. Install the front flange.
Use the special tool to prevent the flange from turning while installing a new nut.

3. CAUTION: Align the index marks.

Install the front driveshaft.
4. Check and, if necessary, fill the transfer case with the specified fluid to the specified level.
5. Lower the vehicle.
