Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CANISTERRemoval and Installation
1. WARNING: The evaporative emissions system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel are present in the area.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped.
3. Disconnect the clamp and remove the evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister purge outlet tube.
4. Disconnect and remove the EVAP canister,
5. Remove the canister vent solenoid from the EVAP canister, if equipped.
6. Remove the EVAP canister elbow.
7. NOTE: Lubricate all evaporative emission O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Leak test the EVAP system.
