Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

Turbocharger Inlet Y-Pipe





Material





Removal





1. On high series console, remove the storage bin.
^ Release the locking tabs and remove the storage bin.





2. Remove the floor console.
^ Through the floor console opening, push and hold the locking clip while lifting upward.





3. Remove the RH lower instrument panel finish panel.





4. Remove the engine cover.





5. Remove the LH turbocharger inlet pipe bolts.





6. Remove the RH turbocharger inlet pipe bolts.





7. NOTE: There is a metal gasket between the exhaust inlet pipe and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler.

Remove the exhaust inlet pipe-to-EGR cooler clamp.





8. Remove the turbocharger inlet clamp.
9. Carefully remove the turbocharger inlet pipe assembly from the vehicle.

Installation





1. NOTE: When installing the turbocharger inlet pipe into the vehicle, do not bend or twist the flex bellows.

Position the turbocharger inlet pipe and install the turbocharger inlet clamp.
^ Tighten to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).





2. Install the EGR cooler clamp.
^ Tighten to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





3. NOTE: Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant to the bolt threads prior to installation.

Install the RH bolts for the turbocharger inlet pipe.
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





4. NOTE: Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant to the bolt threads prior to installation.

Install the LH bolts for the turbocharger inlet pipe.
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
5. Check the system for leaks.





6. Install the engine cover.





7. Install the RH lower instrument panel finish panel.





8. Install the floor console.





9. Install the storage bin.
