Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

CAUTION: Throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and should not be cleaned.

1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.







2. Remove the nuts and the engine appearance cover.







3. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the speed control cable (if equipped) from the throttle body lever.







4. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.







5. Remove the bolt, the stud bolt and the throttle body.
^ Discard the gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Install a new gasket.
