Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems

HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS

The hood consists of the following components:
- hood latch striker
- hood latch
- hood latch release handle assembly

The front and rear doors consist of the following components:
- door lock control switch (front doors only)
- exterior door handle
- interior door handle
- driver door lock cylinder
- door latches, which may consist of the following components:
- door ajar switch
- door lock actuator
- door lock cylinder switch

The liftgate consists of the following components:
- liftgate door lock actuator
- liftgate window glass
- liftgate window latch/ajar switch
- liftgate window glass release handle
- liftgate latch remote control which consists of the following component:
- liftgate release handle
- liftgate latch, which consists of the following component:
- liftgate latch door ajar switch

The power door locks can be actuated by the door lock cylinder. The door lock cylinder switch is an internal part of the door latch. Turning the lock cylinder to the lock position will lock all doors. Turning the lock cylinder to the unlock position will unlock the driver door. If the lock cylinder is turned again to the unlock position within three seconds, all doors will unlock.

The driver door lock switch and the front passenger door lock switch are illuminated.

Keyless Entry
The keyless entry system components consist of the following:
- keyless entry remote transmitter
- generic electronic module (GEM)

For removal and installation of the GEM, refer to Multifunction Electronic Control Module (General Module).

The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
- unlocks the driver door
- unlocks all doors
- locks all doors
- enables the panic alarm
- turns the interior lamps on (when unlocking) and off (when locking)
- sounds the horn once when LOCK on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed twice
- allows up to four keyless entry remote transmitters to be programmed

NOTE: The remote entry features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.

The keyless entry remote transmitters are reprogammable and must be set at the same time.

To confirm that the doors have been locked and that the anti-theft system has armed, press the LOCK button again, within three seconds of the first press. The four-way flashers will hash once if the doors have locked and all doors are closed.

To activate the panic alarm:
- Press the red PANIC button on the keyless entry remote transmitter. The horn will sound and the headlamps and exterior lamps will flash for a maximum of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

To deactivate the panic alarm, press the red PANIC button on the keyless entry remote transmitter or turn the ignition switch to RUN/ACC.
