Windshield Washer Pump and Reservoir
WINDSHIELD WASHER PUMP AND RESERVOIRRemoval and Installation
All vehicles
1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the secondary fender splash shield.
1. Remove the pin-type retainer.
2. Remove the screws and splash shield.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
5. Lower the vehicle on the hoist, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
6. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
7. Remove the air condition (A/C) accumulator to frame bolt.
Vehicles with 4.6L engine
8. Remove the A/C accumulator to bracket nut and position aside the accumulator.
Vehicles with 4.0L engine
9. Remove the radiator grille.
10. Remove the three pin-type retainers.
11. Position the radiator air deflector forward.
12. Remove the nut and position the accumulator aside.
All vehicles
13. WARNING: Windshield washer solution contains methanol, which is poisonous. Observe all cautions and warnings indicated on the label of the container. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: If necessary drain the windshield washer reservoir after removal.
Disconnect the reservoir hoses.
14. Remove the top bolt.
15. Remove the side bolt.
16. Remove the bolt and the reservoir.
17. NOTE: Make sure not to damage the rubber grommet during disassembly.
Remove the windshield washer pump.
1. Disconnect the hoses.
2. Remove the pump.
18. CAUTION: Do not operate the windshield washer pump prior to filling the reservoir. Failure to do so may result in premature pump failure.
NOTE: The windshield washer reservoir, the windshield washer pump and the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor are repaired separately.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
