Shift Cable: Adjustments
Selector Lever Cable Adjustment1. Rotate the gearshift lever clockwise until it bottoms out (first gear). Then rotate it counterclockwise three detents (D position).
2. Hang a 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight on the gearshift lever.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever.
5. Rotate the manual control lever forward until travel stops. Then rotate the manual control lever back three detents to the (D) position.
6. Using a suitable tool, lift the lock tab on the shift cable adjustment lock. With the lock tab raised, push the shift cable adjustment lock outward to the unlock position.
7. Carry out the following:
1 Connect the shift cable to the manual control lever.
2 Push the shift cable adjustment lock downward to the lock position.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Connect the battery ground cable.
10. Remove the 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight.
11. Verify that the engine will start in PARK and NEUTRAL and that the reversing lamps illuminate in REVERSE. If not, check that the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor adjustment is correct. Adjust the TR sensor if necessary.
