Child Seat Tether Attachment: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Second row tether anchors







1. Remove the second row child safety seat tether anchor.
1 Pull the carpet back.
2 Remove the bolt.
3 Remove the tether anchor.

NOTE:
^ The second row tether anchors are mounted to the floor pan behind the second row of seats.
^ The right-hand side is shown.

Seven passenger third row tether anchors







2. Remove the rear hatch scuff plate.
1 Remove the weatherstripping around the rear hatch scuff plate.
2 Lift up on the rear hatch scuff plate, releasing the retainers.







3. Remove the third row child safety seat tether anchor.
1 Remove the bolt.
2 Remove the third row child safety seat tether anchor.

INSTALLATION

All vehicles
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Seal all bolt locations with a bead of Clear Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent sealant meeting Ford specification ESB-M4G92-A.

WARNING: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE BOLT/ANCHOR BE SECURELY TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION. OTHERWISE, THE CHILD'S SAFETY SEAT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY SECURED, AND THE CHILD COULD BE INJURED IN CASE OF A SUDDEN STOP OR ACCIDENT.

NOTE:
^ Rework the sheet metal to its original condition and structural integrity.
^ Make sure to tighten the bolts to specification.

2. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
