Fuel Tank Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE, CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the fuel filter.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
4. Drain the fuel tank.







5. Remove the bolts, if equipped.







6. Remove the nuts and remove the fuel tank skid plate, if equipped.







7. Use a suitable jack to support the fuel tank.







8. Disconnect the fuel filler hose.







9. Disconnect the tubes.







10. Remove the rear fuel tank strap bolt.







11. Remove the front fuel tank strap nut.
12. Lower the fuel tank just enough to expose the fuel lines.







13. Disconnect the fuel lines and the electrical connector.







14. Disconnect the fuel tank electrical supply connector near the frame rail. Lower the fuel tank.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
