Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
Auxiliary Climate ControlREMOVAL
NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Position aside the LH rear quarter trim panel.
3. Remove the insulating tape.
- Retain the tape for reuse.
4. Detach the temperature sensing bulb from the auxiliary evaporator inlet line.
- Remove and retain the clip for reuse.
5. Remove the thermostatic expansion valve.
1 Loosen the refrigerant line fittings.
2 Remove the thermostatic expansion valve.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Use a backup wrench at the fitting to prevent damage to the evaporator core.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil or equivalent.
2. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.
