Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
Intake ManifoldRemoval and Installation
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
3. Disconnect the accelerator and the speed control cables from the throttle body.
4. Remove the accelerator cable and the speed control cable from the bracket. Position the cables away from the intake manifold.
5. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the speed control cable routing clips. Disconnect the vacuum hose.
6. Disconnect the vacuum hoses.
7. Disconnect the following:
- Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
- Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
- Wiring anchor.
8. Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose and the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid vapor hose.
9. Disconnect the EGR tube from the EGR valve.
10. Disconnect wiring harness pin-type retainer.
11. CAUTION: It is important to twist the spark plug wire boots while pulling upward to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wires.
NOTE: Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct ignition coil terminal. Mark spark plug wire locations before removing them.
Disconnect the spark plug wires.
12. Remove the eight intake manifold retainers, then slightly reposition the manifold to access the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) solenoid.
13. NOTE: Position the manifold forward to access connections.
Disconnect the EVR solenoid vacuum and electrical connections.
14. Disconnect the Knock Sensor (KS) electrical connector retainer.
15. Remove the intake manifold.
16. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
