Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the safety belt.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Refer to the following chart.

Mechanical
- Loose webbing
- Safety belt retractor and tongue assembly.

Electrical
- Blown fuse
- Damaged wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connections
- Warning chime module
- Safety belt warning indicator switch
- Lamp Fault Code (LFC) for the buckle and pretensioner.

3. If the fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to Diagnosis by Symptom.
