Attachment II - Technical Instructions

These Special Service Instructions are only for vehicles still within applicable emissions warranty coverage.

If the vehicle is outside the emissions warranty time or mileage limits, do not perform Special Service Instruction 97T02.

Warranty claims under this Special Service Instruction will only be accepted for inspecting the vehicle's calibration level and, if necessary, reprogramming a vehicle's Powertrain Control (PCM) module.

Using the Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS), or the Service Bay Technical System (SBTS) and the New Generation Star Tester (NGS) with Rotunda flash cable (007-00531) and Rotunda flash card (007-00532), verify the calibration level of the vehicle. If the calibration level is R-12 or higher, return vehicle to owner and claim for an inspection.

If the calibration level is lower than R-12, reprogram the PCM to the R-12 or higher revision level. Submit a claim for reprogramming under 97T02

Obtain an Authorized Modifications label and list the date, your dealer P & A code, indicate the change authorization as 97T02, and annotate on the label "Reprogrammed PCM Per SSI 97T02". Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information label suitable for installing the label. Clean the surface, apply the label, and cover it with a clear label overlay. Return the vehicle to the customer
