Front Manual Bucket Seat

DISASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING:
^ THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER IS A PYROTECHNIC DEVICE. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING AN AIR BAG-EQUIPPED VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING A BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER.
^ THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER IS A PYROTECHNIC DEVICE. NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER. DOING SO CAN RESULT IN BELT AND BUCKLE ASSEMBLY PRETENSIONER OR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
^ TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY AIR BAG SYSTEM COMPONENTS. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE.








2. Remove the front seat.
1. Remove the plastic bolt covers.
2. Remove the two nuts and two bolts retaining the front seat support to the floor.
3. Disconnect the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner connector underneath the seat.
4. Remove the front seat from the vehicle.

NOTE: Before removing the seat from the vehicle, position the seat in the full rear position and full up position. If the seat is not in this position, the fastener access holes will not align with the seat fasteners.







3. Remove the armrest.
1. Pull back the (A) Velcro(R) fastened armrest cover to expose the (B) armrest bolt.
2. Remove the (B) armrest bolt and (C) crown washer.
3. Remove the armrest.

NOTE: If the same armrest is being installed, the armrest plate and bolt can be reused, but replace the crown washer when installing the armrest.







4. Pull the front seat back pad adjustment knob from the right side of the seat.

5. Remove the front seat back latch lower cover bolt behind the front seat back latch.

6. Remove the front seat back latch lower cover bolt underneath the seat.
^ Passenger seat shown.







7. Disengage the front seat back latch lower cover clip from the seat track.

8. Remove the (A) front seat back latch lower cover from the (B) front seat.
^ Passenger seat shown.







9. Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover screws from underneath the seat.

10. Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover upward to disengage the front and center upper hooks.
^ Pull the inner cover inboard to clear the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner.







11. Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
1. Rotate the front seat back pivot side inner cover upward to release the rear pushpins mount from the key slot.
2. Hold the front seat back pivot side inner cover in one hand and release the retaining clips holding the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner boot to the cover.
3. Remove the front seat back pivot side inner cover.
12. Remove the rear pushpins retainer from the upper seat track mounting flange.
^ Replace the pushpins if damaged during removal.
13. Remove the belt and buckle assembly pretensioner.







14. Remove the front seat back pad adjuster.
1. Remove the two (A) screws from the seat.
2. Disconnect the (C) front seat back pad adjuster from the (B) front seat back pad adjustment cable.
3. Remove the front seat back pad adjuster.







15. Remove the front seat back latch bolts from the seat cushion.







16. Remove the front seat back.
1. Remove the front seat back bolt.
2. Pull the front seat back pad adjustment cable through the bottom of the front seat back.
3. Lift the front seat back from the seat cushion.







17. Remove the seat back assist handle (passenger seat only).
1. Remove the assist handle fastener covers.
2. Remove the two assist handle screws.
3. Remove the seat back assist handle.







18. Remove the front seat back cover.
1. Unfasten the J-clip at the bottom of the front seat back.
2. Lift the front seat back cover up over the front seat back, disengaging the Velcro(R) fasteners (not shown) and remove the front seat back cover.







19. Remove the (A) seat back pad from the (B) front seat back frame.







20. Cut the wire ties fastening the front seat back pad adjuster cable to the front seat back frame.







21. Rotate the plastic washers 30 degrees until the slit is facing the edge of the front seat back pad adjuster grid.
^ Turn both top and bottom washers.







22. Remove the front seat back pad adjuster grid from the front seat back frame.







23. Remove the front seat back latch from the front seat back frame.
1. Remove the two seat back latch bolts from the front seat back latch.
2. Remove the front seat back latch.







24. Remove the four nuts retaining the seat support to the seat track (passenger seat shown).
^ All four nuts are similar to the one shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Use the fastener access holes to reach the seat support nuts.







25. Gently pull the (A) seat belt connector from the (B) seat support.
^ Note the connector location when removing it from the seat.

NOTE: Examine the plastic fasteners on the seat belt connector and replace if worn.

26. Remove the seat support from the seat tracks.
^ To disassemble the passenger seat storage drawer, see Passenger Seat Storage Drawer. Under Seat Storage Drawer







27. Remove the four bolts retaining the (A) front seat tracks to the (B) front seat cushion.

NOTE: For the passenger seat, place the seat tracks in the mid-position to remove the seat track bolts.







28. Remove the (A) seat tracks from the (B) seat cushion.







29. Remove the safety belt wiring assembly from the seat cushion frame.
^ Note the locations of the plastic fasteners when removing the wiring assembly.

NOTE: Examine plastic fasteners on the safety belt wiring assembly and replace if worn.







30. Remove the front seat cushion cover.
1. Unfasten the J-clips on all four sides of the front seat cushion cover.
2. Remove the (A) seat cushion frame from the (B) seat cushion.
3. Remove the (C) front seat cushion cover from the front seat cushion, disengaging the Velcro(R) fastener (not shown).





































ASSEMBLY
1. Follow the disassembly procedure in reverse order. Tighten fasteners to the proper specifications.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
