Spindle: Description and Operation

A forged rear spindle bolts to each rear strut assembly. The movement of the rear spindle is controlled laterally using two lateral links attached to the spindle. The outboard ends of the two lateral links are mounted forward and rearward of the spindle centerline, and the inboard ends are mounted to the rear suspension crossmember. Fore and aft movement of the knuckle is controlled by using a trailing arm.

NOTE: The rear suspension spindle is not a repairable component of the rear suspension, If it is determined that the spindle is broken or bent when servicing the vehicle, no attempt is to be made to repair or to straighten the spindle. The spindle must be replaced if found to be damaged in any way.
