Installation





1. Install the power steering fluid to cooler tube assembly in vehicle using the reverse order of removal. Install the cooler line assembly routing clip on the left front frame rail.





2. Route the hose section of the power steering cooler lines to the power steering oil cooler. Install the routing clip on the front bumper reinforcement.
3. Install the hose clamps on the power steering cooler line hoses.





4. Install the hoses from the power steering cooler lines on the power steering oil cooler. Install the hose clamps on the power steering fluid hoses. Be sure clamps are installed on hoses past the upset beads on the power steering oil cooler hose fittings.





5. Install the hose coming from the power steering gear on the power steering fluid cooler tube going to the power steering oil cooler.





6. Move the power steering fluid reservoir back into position. Install the power steering cooler line hose on the nipple of the power steering fluid reservoir. Install the hose clamp on the hose. Be sure clamp is installed on power steering fluid hose past the upset bead on the hose fitting.





7. Position the power steering fluid reservoir on the frame rail. Install the mounting bolt for the power steering fluid reservoir. Tighten the mounting bolt to a torque of 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).





8. Install the heat shield for the HCU on the HCU mounting bracket. Install the 2 bolts attaching the heat shield to the HCU mounting bracket.





9. Install the battery tray. Install and securely tighten the 3 bolts and the nut, mounting the battery tray.
10. Install the battery.
11. Install the cover on the battery.
12. Install the positive and negative cables on the terminals of the battery.
13. Raise the vehicle to a point where the front tires are just off the ground.
14. Start the engine and let it run for a few seconds. Then turn the engine off.
15. Add power steering fluid to the reservoir as necessary to bring it up to the proper FULL level when cold. Repeat the above procedure until the fluid level remains constant after running the engine.
16. Start the engine.
17. Slowly turn the steering wheel to the right and left, until lightly contacting the stops.
18. Turn off the engine. Check the fluid level and refill as required.
19. If the fluid is extremely foamy, allow the vehicle to stand a few minutes and repeat the above procedure.
