Installation
PROCEDUREPark Brake Cable Attachment To Park Brake Lever:
1. Install parking brake cable into rear brake support plate. Be sure the park brake retainers are expanded around mounting hole in brake support plate. Connect parking brake cable to park brake lever on trailing brake shoe.
2. Install parking brake cable into cable mounting hole in floor pan of vehicle. Be sure that cable retainers are expanded around mounting hole in floor pan.
Park Brake Cable Routing Clips:
3. Install the 4 routing clips attaching rear park brake cable to floor pan and frame of vehicle.
Front Park Brake Cable Connection At Equalizer:
4. Connect the park brake cable to the park brake cable equalizer.
NOTE: The equalizer can be moved rearward to allow connection of the rear cable to the equalizer.
Park Brake Equalizer And Cover:
5. Install equalizer cover back on reaction bracket. Torque equalizer cover to reaction bracket mounting bolts to 10 Nm (88 in. lbs.).
6. Fold rear passenger compartment carpeting back into position.
7. Install both lower rear door opening sill moldings.
8. Install the rear seat lower cushion back in vehicle.
9. Install drivers side seat assembly back in vehicle.
10. Return the driver and passenger side seats back to their original positions.
11. Install hub/bearing assembly on spindle.
Hub And Bearing Retaining Nut:
12. Install the washer and retaining nut for the hub/bearing assembly. Tighten the retaining nut to a torque of 168 Nm (124 ft. lbs.).
13. Install the wave washer, nut retainer and cotter pin on rear spindle.
14. Install hub/bearing dust cap.
15. Install the brake drum, and the wheel and tire assembly.
16. When repairs are complete, adjust rear brakes before adjusting parking brake. See Parking Brake System Adjustments for complete parking brake adjustment procedure.
