With Bench Seat

PROCEDURE
1. Remove drivers seat assembly from vehicle.
2. Remove rear seat lower cushion from vehicle.

Sill Molding And Kick Molding:

3. Remove drivers side door opening sill molding. Remove drivers side cowl kick molding to expose park brake pedal mechanism.

NOTE: The throttle pedal and bracket have to be removed from the dash panel to allow the carpet to be folded back.

Park Brake Equalizer And Cover:

4. Fold back carpeting to expose the front park brake cable, reaction bracket cover and equalizer. Remove equalizer cover from reaction bracket.

WARNING: PARK BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY SELF ADJUSTER MECHANISM MUST BE RELOADED AND LOCKED TO REMOVE TENSION FROM PARK BRAKE CABLES. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE REMOVE THE FRONT PARK BRAKE CABLE FROM THE PARK BRAKE CABLE EQUALIZER. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL MAKE ASSEMBLY EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY.

5. Reload the self adjuster mechanism of the park brake pedal. Use the procedure as described in Parking Brake System Service and Repair.

Front Park Brake Cable Connection At Equalizer:

6. Remove front park brake cable from park brake cable equalizer.

Front Park Brake Cable Retaining Clip:

7. Remove the front park brake cable to reaction bracket retaining clip, by prying it off cable using a screwdriver.

Front Park Brake Cable Routing And Clipping:

8. Remove front park brake cable from reaction bracket. Remove screw, attaching park brake cable routing clip to left front floor pan. Remove front park brake cable from the 2 routing clips attached to the floor pan crossmember.

Park Brake Pedal Mechanism:

9. Remove the bolt attaching park brake pedal assembly to left front door frame. Loosen but do not remove the 2 bolts attaching park brake pedal assembly to cowl panel. Unplug the brake warning light connector from switch on park brake pedal assembly. Remove park brake pedal mechanism and front park brake cable as an assembly.

WARNING: PARK BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY SELF ADJUSTER MECHANISM MUST BE RELOADED AND LOCKED TO REMOVE TENSION FROM PARK BRAKE CABLE. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE FRONT PARK BRAKE CABLE FROM PARK BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL MAKE ASSEMBLY EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY.

Park Brake Cable Retaining Clip:

10. Remove park brake pedal from vehicle. Mount park brake pedal assembly in a vise. Remove front park brake cable to park brake assembly retaining clip.

Park Brake Cable Removal From Park Brake Mechanism:

11. Rotate park brake cable aligning cable with notch in cable attaching hole on park brake pedal mechanism. Lift park brake cable, out of hole in park brake mechanism. Remove park brake cable from park brake mechanism.
