Test 6A - Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Failure
NOTE: You must perform Test 1-A, before proceeding with this test.Wheel Speed Sensors/CAB:
Front & Rear Wheel Sensor Connectors:
NAME OF CODE:
LF Sensor Circuit Failure
LR Sensor Circuit Failure
RF Sensor Circuit Failure
RR Sensor Circuit Failure
When Monitored:
Ignition on.
Set Condition:
The Controller Antilock Brakes CAB monitors the wheel speed circuit continuity at all times. If the CAB detects an open or shorted wheel speed sensor circuit, the trouble code will set.
Possible Causes:
^ Open or shorted wheel speed sensor
^ Open or shorted wheel speed sensor circuit
^ Excess corrosion of wheel speed circuit terminals and connectors
^ Damaged wheel speed sensor harness
^ Intermittent open or shorted WSS circuits
^ Failed CAB
PROCEDURE
1. With the DRB, erase diagnostic trouble codes.
2. Turn the ignition off, then turn the ignition on.
3. With the DRB, read diagnostic trouble codes. If more than one code returns, record the codes for future reference. Refer to the chart below and perform the appropriate test.
DRB TROUBLE CODE DIAGNOSTIC TEST
Left front sensor circuit failure 6BTest 6B - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Left rear sensor circuit failure 6CTest 6C - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
Right front sensor circuit failure 6DTest 6D - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Right rear sensor circuit failure 6ETest 6E - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
4. If no trouble codes return, refer to the schematic and trouble code information on the facing page. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors of the wheel speed sensor circuits. While an assistant observes the DRB, wiggle the wiring harness from the cab to each of the wheel speed sensors. If the trouble code returns, repair the harness as necessary.
5. If a problem is found, repair as necessary and perform test VER-1A.
