Test 22A - Traction Control System Operation

NOTE: You must perform Test 1-A, before proceeding with this test.

Traction Control System:

GENERAL INFORMATION
At start up both the green (TRAC CONT) and amber (TRAC OFF) lamps should light up for two seconds and go out.

When the traction control switch is pressed, the amber (TRAC OFF) should light up and when pressed again the lamp should go out. The switch momentarily grounds the traction control switch sense circuit originating at the Controller Antilock Brakes CAB cavity #9. Ground for the switch is supplied through the panel lamps ground circuit.

When wheel spin is detected on acceleration and brakes are not applied, the traction system will be active and the green (TRAC CONT) lamp should light up. The light should go out when wheel spin is no longer detected.

The amount of time the traction control system is active is recorded by the CAB. If the system is on too long, the CAB will not allow traction operation. The amber (TRAC OFF) lamp will be on. The memory for this function is powered through the CAB cavity #7 and the Fused B(+) circuit originating at the power distribution center.
