Ticking Noise From Rear Drum Brakes
MODELS:
1996 - 1997 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
During light to moderate braking, a ticking noise may be heard from the rear brakes. The noise may be more prevalent on new vehicles with less than 500 miles.
DIAGNOSIS:
Apply the brakes lightly from 30 mph to a complete stop. If there is a ticking noise coming from the rear brakes(may be only one side), perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves burnishing the rear brakes.
1. Apply the parking brake pedal three clicks.
2. Drive the vehicle at 20 mph for 1.5 miles.
3. Release the parking brake.
4. Apply the brakes from 30 mph to a complete stop. If no brake noise is present, the vehicle is repaired.
5. If the brake noise is still present, repeat steps 1 through 4, but only for 1 mile. If brake noise is still present, reface the brake drum(s) on the noisy side(s).
