Measurements and Specifications
This bulletin involves taking measurements, relating the complaint condition to an adjustment chart, and making appropriate adjustments as described by the chart. Always take measurements before referring to the adjustment chart for adjustment procedures.
Measurements and Specifications
Note: Always check the door to body alignment first. With the door glass in the full down position, check the door latch to door striker alignment. If necessary, adjust the door striker.
PARALLELISM/FORE & AFT
1. Apply a piece of masking tape along the quarter window molding as shown in Figure 1. Make a mark on the tape 65 mm (2.5 in) below the top weather strip seam for Talon and 100 mm (4 in) for Avenger/Sebring. Make another mark on the tape 100 mm (4 in) below the first.
2. Measure the distance from the front of the quarter trim molding to the edge of the glass at each of the two marks on the tape. Specification is 12 - 15 mm (.47 - .59 in).
3. Based on the measurement, two adjustments can be applicable. The measurement (gap width) at the two marks should be within .5 mm (.02 in) of each other. If not, parallelism adjustment is required. If the measurement is out of specification (gap too wide or narrow), fore and aft adjustment is required.
HEIGHT
1. Wrap two 50 mm (2 in) long pieces of tape over the top edge of the glass as shown in Figure 2.
2. With the door closed and the window rolled completely up, make a pencil mark on each piece of tape for the position of the drip molding to glass location. Open the door and measure the distance from the top edge of the glass to the mark on the tape (Figure 3).
3. The specifications are: Front tape measurement 1.5 - 4.5 mm (.06 - .18 in) Talon, or 2 - 4 mm (.08 - .16 in) Avenger\Sebring. Rear tape measurement 2.5 - 4.5 mm (.98 - .18 in) Talon, or 2 - 4 mm (.08 - .16 in) Avenger/Sebring.
4. If out of specification, height adjustment will be required.
TILT
1. Wet the inner corner of the glass. Close the door just until the glass contacts the weather strip. Measure the gap between the body and the door, just below the door handle (Figure 4).
2. The specification is 15 - 20 mm (.59 - .79 in)
3. If out of specification, tilt adjustment will be required.
