Installation

Note position of bosses in small end I.D. of boot for later assembly. These are used to ventilate boot and joint.

Ensure seat area on shaft for small end of joint is grease free when installing boot. Grease in this area will prevent proper ventilation of joint.

1. Place tape over shaft spline to protect boot during installation, then, as equipped, install boot washer, boot clamp and boot. Remove tape.
2. On models where joint was disassembled, reassemble joint, ensure match marks are aligned. Joint boot flange recess on outer race, spline recess of inner race and chamfer of cage should all be assembled on same side of joint.
3. On all models, pack joint and boot with 1.6-2.0 oz. of a suitable joint grease.
4. Using a suitable adhesive, position and secure joint gaskets.
5. Place joint on shaft splines so that bolt holes of boot flange and joint align, then using a suitable socket or tube and hammer drive joint onto shaft and install snap ring.
6. Tighten boot clamp, ensure clip of clamp is on opposite side of bosses on inside of boot small end used for ventilation of joint.
7. Align match marks on companion flange and joint, install bolts, then torque bolts as shown.
