Rear Wheel Bearing Rotation Sliding Resistance Check
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove driveshaft as described under "Driveshaft, Replace."Fig.27 Bolt Tool Installation:
2. Use bolt tool No. MB990998, or equivalent to mount rear hub onto lower arm as shown.
3. Torque nut of special bolt to 145-188 ft. lbs.
4. Rotate rear hub to seat bearing.
5. With bolt tool installed, measure wheel bearing starting torque using torque wrench, adapter and socket tool Nos. MB990998, MB990685 and MB990326, or equivalents.
6. Starting torque should be 9 inch lbs. or less and bearing must not feel rough when rotated.
