Ball Joint Inspection (Front Suspension)
Inspect ball joint for correct starting torque as follows:1. Move ball joint stud from side to side several times.
2. Mount two nuts on ball joint, then using a suitable torque wrench measure starting torque. Starting torque should be within 3-13 lb-in for upper arm ball joint, and 4-13 lb-in for stabilizer link ball joint.
3. If starting torque exceeds upper limit, replace lower arm assembly.
4. If starting torque is below lower limit, the ball joint may still be used unless it has drag or excessive play.
